I would like you to have your point of view about the sautoirs worn and owned by QEQM.

Indeed I now tend to think that QEQM had 2 diamond sautoirs (with small diamonds) as Duchess of York.

I. Queen Elisabeth The Queen mother :

Owing to Beth, we now all know that Queen Elisabeth The Queen Mother had a diamond sautoir. She wore this diamond sautoir as a Duchess of York.

I now think that she had not one but two diamond sautoirs (See below the press reports) :

in July 1931 : a diamond necklace





I now think that QEQM was wearing the diamond sautoir worn by QEII and Princess Margaret.

in August 1931 : a long diamond chain :




in ? :



Further to the description I now think that QEQM had 2 diamond sautoirs.

II. Lady Elphinstone at her sister and brother-in-law's coronation in 1938 :

We all know that Lady Elphinstone was lent the lotus tiara by her sister Queen Elisabeth for the coronation in 1938.

Lady Elphinstone also wore 2 sautoirs at the coronation.

I now think that Lady Elphinstone was lent the two sautoirs by her sister. Indeed I do see a match with the shorter sautoir worn by QEII and Princess Elisabeth.

Unfortunately, I can't post a good photo(s) of Lady Elphinstone at the coronation with the 2 sautoirs.



III. Queen Elizabeth II - Princess Elizabeth - :


Queen Elisabeth II wore one least 3 times the shorter diamond sautoir (which can be a small diamond collet necklace in that case).

I now do think that the short diamond sautoir was given to Princess Elizabeth as an 18th birthday gift in 1944, another wartime birthday with the Cartier Halo Tiara by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother

IV. Princess Margaret :


The shorter diamond sautoir was lent by QEII as Princess Elisabeth to her sister Princess Margaret :

V. Queen Mary :

Last but not least I used to think that the sautoir worn by QEII was given by Queen Mary and made from the long sautoir (which was worn as Duchess of York). However, I now tend to think that these sautoirs are not the same (the diamonds in QM are bigger) :
