Examples we know of include HRH Princess Alice of Athlone, who started wearing her mother’s badge after HRH The Duchess of Albany’s death in 1922.
Here are some links to her wearing her original 2nd class badge

(I’m sure I read somewhere that after Princess Alice’s death her daughter Lady May Abel Smith inherited her mother’s royal orders insignia and had the crowns removed so she could wear the jewelled cameos as brooches. I must follow that up. Does anyone readily know of a source?)
