The jewels (or apparent lack thereof) of the Brazilian Imperial house is something that has always fascinated me. Its near impossible to find pictures of the Imperial women wearing grand jewels, which struck me as odd given Brazil is the producer of many gemstones including large diamonds.
I have read that the Brazilian Imperial Family lived a very simple lifestyle compared to their European contemporaries, which may be an explanation.
I am glad that Ursula has shared details of the tiara belonging to the wife of the son of the Princess Imperial.

I found on Dinastas a post showing a picture of pearls allegedly belonging to the Empress Leopoldina and which was auctioned by Sothebys in the 80s.
