In Once upon a diamond Prince Dimitri notes that the weaving ribbon element at the top of the tiara is removable. Luckily for us, the images in Angela Kelly's book provide some views of the rear of the tiara. In the detail below we can see a clip mechanism at the end of the tiara.
I am not sure whether the clips which can be seen at other parts of the tiara are part of the securing mechanism for the weaving ribbon element or if they are meant to lock in place a moveable arm element which carries the small eyes through which the swinging pearls or emeralds are threaded.
What do others think?
