Re: Queen Sirikit's Ruby Set
Thailand is an interesting royal family (jewelry wise and even outside of the realm of royal fashion). As I've said, the nearest thing they probably have to Crown Jewels for the use of a Queen are the belts. The jewelry of Queen Sirikit seem to be personal property of hers. Queen Suthida has never been photographed wearing a tiara, although her predecessors Soamsawali and Srirasmi have donned them on occasion. And they were not Queens. The King's previous wife, Srirasmi, was picture wearing many beautiful jewels over her tenure. She has subsequently fallen out of favor and is rumored to be under house arrest. I wouldn't be surprised if her jewelry reverted to her then-husband. Time will only tell what Queen Suthida and Consort Nui will wear. It's an extremely unique situation. Queen Suthida seems to prefer pearls while Consort Nui seems to like gemstones. Thailand has been continuing with royal appearances despite the pandemic, so there's always more opportunity to see the jewelry.
