If only we had some photos from the concert at Blenheim, it looked like a very glittering event.
In April 2020 Knightship posted about a fabulous find: Queen Alexandra wearing a diamond aigrette, which explained a jewel later seen on Princess Victoria at the Devonshire House ball.

I wonder if the aigrette
might have been worn by Queen Alexandra for a concert and fireworks display given by the Duke and Duchess of Marlborough at Blenheim in late November 1896? Originally there was to have been a grand, formal ball as part of the entertainment, but this was cancelled at the last minute because the Duchess' grandmother, Mrs Vanderbilt, died. It is possible that, because of that, Queen Alexandra did not wear a tiara.
Queen Maud is seen behind the Duchess. She didn't wear a tiara either.
So far, the only description I have of the ladies' jewels from this event is this --
I initially took this description to mean that Queen Alexandra was wearing a tiara, but perhaps the description refers to an aigrette.
What do others think?
