I was always puzzled as to why this piece was described as a bracelet in the first place. Its design – with the central ruby cluster being a clasp between two short diamond chains – and the fact it was enclosed in the same case make it perfectly clear that its main purpose is to serve as an extension when the tiara is worn as a necklace.

With the tiara being relatively short, an extension must measure approximately 22–24 centimeters, which is at least 5 centimeters too long for a bracelet, not to mention the fact that the two loose ends must be connected somehow to be worn around the wrist.
