Previous Message
When Edward VII (as Prince of Wales) officially opened the Tower Bridge in London in 1894 he and Queen Alexandra were given souvenirs of the occasion.
The occasion was the scene of much colour on the Thames as everyone celebrated this engineering feat.
All the official party on the official dais.
While Edward VII was presented with a sizeable silver cup suitably engraved, Queen Alexandra was given a brooch.
As in many other instances the brooch was embellished with symbols which, while clearly identifying the organisation, limited the use of the jewel. I wonder if anyone has every worn it?
