There ist another one of Vigee Le Brun.
There is also very little of Elizabeth and Augusta, apart from the coronation portraits.
I donīt know any fotographs of them bejewelled.
As Victoria and Albert's daughter, Victoria seems to have been more open to such self-promotion. But pictures with jewellery are rare.
Auguste Victoria had a long reign. But compared to, for example, Queen Alexandra or Princess Mary, there are few fotos, especially from the late years and often poorly. Pictures with her husband are often just photomontages. Court balls were apparently not photographed, and there was no official opening of parliament. The style is also formerly "German", reserved, modest. But her Willi was much more conspicuous...
I think the public relation strategy of the German queens was more geared to the faithful maternal consort, unless the monarchy was to represent. Unfortunately, we don't have a photo of Edward VII's visit to Berlin or of Wilhelm and Auguste Victoria's visit to London. How did the German Empress appeared next to Alexandra?
By the way, Victoria's pearls went to the Crown Treasury and Wilhelm II sold them in exile. Not that he had to go to Doorn as a poor man....
I would like to know what happened to the shell tiara. There are pictures of her wearing it.
