Hi Xavi' what a beautiful and sumptuous tiara you have highlighted. There is so much we can yet see and learn. Thanks again and a warm welcome to you.
Dave.
Hello everyone!! I’m Xavi! Nice to mee you all! I, like everyone else here, love royal jewelry specially the tradition and the aesthetic that they bring to the monarchy! It is my aim to share what little I have found in hopes of sparking friendly conversations and expand our knowledge on royal jewelry!
IF MY POSTS VIOLATE ANY COPYRIGHT LAW OR IF THE SUBJECTS HAVE ALREADY BEEN DISCUSSED, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND I WILL TAKE THE POSTS DOWN ASAP!
My favorite royal jewels are the ones that belong to the Greek Royal Family. I just find it fascinating how they were able to smuggle them out of the country when they went into exile and find it even more fascinating how they have been able to hold onto most of them! With that been said, I also find myself drawn to pieces that are not that well known, that belong to ‘nonmainstream’ families.
My first post today will be about the Lippe Wreath Tiara. I’ve taken the liberty to name it as such because I haven’t been able to find much information on it. The tiara in question is a bandeau of diamond leaves set with what appears at least 4 faceted stones (my guess would be emeralds, but I’m not 100% sure). The tiara was pictured on the head of Princess Consort Bertha of Lippe (born Princess of Hesse-Philippsthal-Barchfeld) first wife of the last ruling prince of Lippe, Leopold IV on a series of family portraits before the end of the monarchy.

Prince Leopold IV remarried in 1922 to Princess Anna von Ysenburg und Büdingen, and she was pictured wearing the piece along with more family jewels.

If we take a look at this picture of Princess Emilie of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen (1800–1867) consort of Leopold II of Lippe, it looks like she is wearing the Lippe wreath tiara on top of another tiara of vegetable motifs.

I haven’t been able to find any more information on the piece.
If you have more info on this piece, pls sound off in the comments below! Until the next one!
