"When Queen Alexandra died she left the badge to her grandson King George VI who subsequently bequeathed it to the Queen Mother".
In 1957 the Queen Mother lent the badge which was described as a brooch/pendant to the St. John County Ball held to raise funds for the St. John Ambulance Association and Brigade in Devon. The ball was organized by the Countess Mountbatten and the Queen Mother was Commandant in Chief of the St John's Ambulance Nursing Divison. Press reports in 1957 noted the Queen Mother had worn the brooch on visits to Wales". The brooch was inherited by the Queen after the death of the Queen Mother.
I would like to see this brooch (stomacher ?) worn by the Duchess of Cornwall or the Duchess of Cambridge. (with the bracelet and the earrings would be a real dream) !!
