Cue, Princess Josefa of Iturbide, daughter of Emperor Augustin I and Empress Ana María of Mexico. After the fall of the First Mexican Empire the Iturbides were exiled, but managed to regain favor when Emperor Maximilian adopted two of Agustin’s grandsons. Princess Josefa became a close confidant of Empress Carlota and remained so even after Maximiliano was executed and Carlota exiled.

In the picture above, Princess Josefa is seen wearing a big-gun tiara of floral and vegetable motifs, a substantial pearl necklace, a pair of pearl pendant earrings, and a big bracelet. It’s also worth mentioning that the Princess is wearing the Order of San Carlos that she received from Empress Carlota. She seems to have had quite a nice jewelry collection for a Princess of a deposed dynasty, and for someone who died in complete anonymity.
Just wanted to shine a light on a forgotten royal lady.
Have a great weekend guys!! Hope y’all are keeping safe and healthy!
