The Princess never loaned one of her jewels to her daughter in law Princess Anne d' Orleans and her 4 daughters wore low key tiaras for their Weddings.
I don't know if she gave jewels to Teresa Laula or Ines Morales ?
When she passed away did they share their huge historical jewels between her 3 Children?
Who was the first Seller ?
If so much interest is generated in jewels with top provenance when going to auction, why don't families who are holders of such famous jewels not show case them to the public where a fee is charged to see them.
Such an arrangement can be done say three times a year and the proceeds used to keep and maintain the jewels in the family.
I believe they are some aristocratic families who have loaned their family heirlooms to museums and indeed the BRC, and in regards to stately estates' some have intrusted them to the British National Trust in order to keep family legacies.
A few off the top of my head are the Londonderry family whom it has been reported has loaned some of their jewels to the V&A museum, and the royal relatives who only a couple years ago loaned QV's great emerald tiara and necklace along with an all diamond tiara to an exhibition at Kensington Palace via the RC.
Earl Spencer also allows certain of his family jewels to travel to the US and I believe other places for exhibitions.
Regards,
Dave.
What marvellous history Vincent Meylan keeps uncovering!!
It looks as if Infanta Alicia was wearing one of the bracelets when the photo below was taken.
