Iíve no idea, but I suppose there would be images of Lady Curzon wearing the emerald earrings if they had been hers. They are more significant than most of the earrings she was photographed or painted with, and she certainly loved prestigious jewellery too much not to have wanted to show off such grand gems.
But then I have also never seen a picture of a previous Countess of Plymouth (nor of a Countess of Wemyss or Lady Elcho Ė Caroline Helen Riceís mother-in-law was Lady Irene Corona Charteris, daughter of the 11th Earl of Wemyss) showing these emerald earrings.
