I had always thought that the tiara was in the possession of Cartier when it was lent to the then Crown Princess of Romania for her wedding in 1996. Then I noticed the wording in Geoffrey Munn's book. Perhaps I have misread Munn, or perhaps he was mistaken, or perhaps at the time Cartier did not want to be identified as the owner. To me it seems a bit of a mystery as to why the Crown Princess borrowed a tiara. I wonder if she felt that the Greek Key tiara would be too cumbersome to wear comfortably, especially if she was dancing during the festivities?
