Clarissa Eden, the Countess of Avon passed away earlier his week at the age of 101. The niece of Sir Winston Churchill who became the wife of his successor, Anthony Eden, the Countess was one of the last (if not the last) wives of a Prime Minister to wear a Tiara! The Countess wore this Diamond and Pearl Tiara, HERE,
for a portrait and at least two occasions in 1955. While her branch of the Churchill Family was rather impoverished, the Tiara could have come from the Earls of Abingdon or the Eden Baronets, though it could also have been a loan.
We discussed the Tiaras of PM's wives in 2018! https://mb.boardhost.com/historyroyaljewels/thread/1531954951.html
