In relation to the Pearl parure, there is reference to it belonging to the "Danish Royal Property Trust was established in 1910."
The jewels belonged to Queen Louise, wife of Frederick VIII, however she did not die until 1926 so I was intrigued what sparked her to gift these items to the Trust 16 years before her death. What more is known about this entity? Why was it settled and what other items of jewellery are included in it?
I know Queen Louise had a vast jewellery collection, which sadly is largely dispersed but I wonder what was her motivation to say add the Pearls to the Trust and not say her wonderful diamond tiara, which by luck at least ended up in Norway and not at auction.
This looks to be a lovely exhibit, I was particularly touched by the anecdote about the Horseshoe brooch gifted by King Frederik when the change to the law of succession was made and the Queen wearing it when she was pronounced as monarch.
