Sotheby’s will auction a sensational and seldom Royal Family Order of King Georg IV. from 1820 at its Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels Auction on 9th November 2022.

Orders a definitely not my cup of tea, but this impressed me indeed. It comes from Princess Elizabeth of Great Britain and Ireland, King Georg IV. sister., married to the Landgrave of Hesse-Homburg. In contrast to Empress Eugenie´s Bracelet and Duchess Viktoria Luise´s Brooch it is highly estimated. As not wearable anymore, this a piece of history which should goes to a museum.
But who will spend so much money for a relict of Georg IV today…
Along with some family orders of Queen Victoria and King Edward VII. three versions of it are in the Royal Collection.
