Apparently, the caught thieves realised during the trial that they would not leave the courtroom as free men as expected. However, the members of a known criminal clan had left clear DNA traces and are facing prison sentences. It appears they engaged in negotiations over the loot and 31 pieces of the loot were recovered, including the breast star of the Polish Order of the White Eagle and agraffes. Regrettably, the large epaulette with the "Saxon White", a large white diamond of 50 carats, as well as the huge wonderful bow brooch of Queen Auguste Amalie are missing. I think the large stones were the most usable of all the loot. Very unfortunate.
Nevertheless, the General Director of the Dresden State Art Collections, Marion Ackermann, calls it a Christmas miracle. At the moment, the pieces are still being forensically examined and checked for authenticity.
