This is from my point of view what makes the topic so captivating (apart form my little inner princess): the artistic and economic processes behind the creation of a piece of jewellery.
The dealing between customer and broker shows no sparkle in this part of the process. This throws my right out of my holiday... but the practical wishes of the young Queen makes me smile.
Certainly, not in every important piece of jewellery such a kind of theoretical meta-level can be found, but in this case the connections to medival crowns and their liturgical meanings is worth discussion. A kind of catholic submarine to a protestant queen. I guess it had about all seen as a very modern piece of jewellery. Was it celebrated for this or dismissed as newfangeld stuff as modern tiaras today?
