Very good research and detail Beth, thank you. I recall reading in the British press very vague reports of HM QE 11 receiving lots of jewellery for her diamond jubilee but it has never been shown or detailed as has been done like in this case. But I appreciate the info.

Below are a few cuttings about the gifts given by the Emperor of China and the Dowager Empress.

Photos of some of the items which were displayed, along with other Jubilee gifts, at the Imperial Institute in London in 1897.

    An antique bronze item.

I didn't see anything on the Royal Collection online site which might match the jade items but perhaps they haven't be processed for online searching yet. Or perhaps Queen Victoria left them to other royals. Or, even more likely, perhaps I didn't search carefully enough!

In the online book Ericks provided at page 44, Marianne mentions that the Chinese Emperor Kuang-hou sent to QV of the UK a sceptre of jade for her jubilee. I tried to tract this gift down on the royal collection site but I got a black and white photo of a cabinet with what is reported to be jade in a set. Does anyone know of any information with regards to this particular gift and or if it was ever made into jewellery?

    Regards,

    Dave.
