Royal jewels worn by others. Queen Alexandra's amethyst necklaceArchived Message

After the death of Princess Maud, Countess of Southesk, some of her most important jewels were sold at auction.
One was her amethyst necklace inherited from Queen Alexandra.
Unfortunately there do not appear to be any photos of Queen Alexandra wearing this elaborate necklace, although Princess Maud was famously photographed wearing it to the 1937 coronation.
According to Sotheby's the necklace was purchased from Wartski's in 1958.
Luckily, his wife, Anne, was photographed wearing the necklace (and with a choker and long pearl necklaces) giving us some idea of how the necklace might have looked when worn to grand court occasions by Queen Alexandra.
