Interestingly it didn’t seem to mention the exact coonect was between Queen Mary and the brooch. The brooch however seemed to be a piece that would be contemporary to her. She had one from at least before she became Queen as shown by the photo below (possibly taken in 1910) where the label says she was Princess of Wales. It is this brooch I have never taken any notice about when the second one (the one in the article on the Jewellery Editor site) initially showed up in photographs. Below is a photo showing HM wearing both brooches. Both brooches ended up in the estate of Mary, Princess Royal, Countess of Harewood and were auctioned.
