A new site on British royal jewels. A review.

The Instagram site on British royal jewels is a relative newcomer, having commenced in November 2017.
The site is very well presented, examining an eclectic selection of British royal jewels. There does not appear to be a pattern to what is selected and examples of the jewels of Queen Mary might be followed by jewels worn by Queen ELizabeth, Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone and other royal ladies. Each post contains some brief information about the jewel and multiple photos showing the jewel worn, often by various royal ladies over time. The abundance of photographic evidence makes the posts interesting, while at the same time often providing proof of statements about the history or origin of various jewels. The enthusiasm of the site owner for the topic shines through.
Long term followers of the British royal jewels will realise that some of the information will not be found in published books, although it is well backed up by illustrations. Many aficionados will recognise where some material originates.
The site owner states clearly at the top of the site that all the information and photos come from Google and Pinterest, and I have no doubt this is so.
But Google and Pinterest have not given their users the right to use and present the work of others as their own. Indeed they cannot; they cannot circumvent or over ride intellectual property rights or copyright.
When I checked with Google and Pinterest this morning, they did not have the ability to research in databases or internal library sites needing subscription identification and definitely not in private archives or books or magazines which are not published on the web. Nor could they make deductions, draw inferences, or make parallel connections.
While Google has transformed access to knowledge for many who might never visit a library in their lives, know what an archive is or even read a print version of a newspaper, it has not yet replaced the skills of those who undertake original research. It is not yet able to search inside archives, select, order and pay for documentation, and then interpret the information found.
Since I'm no aficionado of British royal jewels and only had a quick look at the Instagram account in question, would you mind giving a link to an example of what you so nobly described as information which will not be found in published books?
Pinterest and copyright is a particular pet issue of mine. There's a possibility to prevent saves to Pinterest by adding a short code snippet to the head section of a website and a way to turn off saving to Pinterest on a single image by adding a tag, but I don't see a possibility to apply either to a message board.
Never mind, Beth. On second sight it actually doesn't take much time to find not only a few examples of a rather unashamed attitude of presenting information without acknowledging sources.
Hello I'm Ursula from Royal-Magazin, Laura gave me the tip about this new board before 3 days and Beth was so polite to invite me. Hello all fellows...
On Instagram some side owner, "collect" my website and used my content often without give any source. Sometimes when I find it, I make a post to do not so, or ask for "please set the correct URL in the field for the source". Some are very aggressive also on Pinterest - while they "experts" take my text and pictures as "inspiration" and give the impression it's his know-how! This owner had do it 4 times now and I give Instagram a report. There are 3 or 5 other Instagram-accounts they do it also, I will not give them a PR platform here, now, but I still watch it and next time I give a report to Pinterest/Instagram and after that I will inform you. It is a bad job to do it (one day a month), lost time for other things what makes my happy. Thank you to Laura and Volker, they support me tremendously, always with good mood and a lot of time for our passion.
Hi Ursula just wanted to say how fantastic your site, featuring not only a fantastic trove of jewels but the background research is amazing. A thank also you to both Laura & Volker.

But what you describe as "my content" is often questionable as well. If you don't want to give the impression of a pot calling the kettle black you probably should invest more effort in disclosing your sources for both information and photos in a less generic way. Just slicing an image to prevent it from being saved doesn't give you ownership, and the sources given for your articles's conclusions are often incomplete.
