Garter "badge" on Queen Elizabeth II Posted by Thomas on October 21, 2018, 11:47 pm Thanks to a short article by our fellow poster The Royal Watcher, I remarked that the Queen wore a very unusual jewelled Garter insignia (instead of the full Star) while attending a film premiere at the Dominion Theatre in London on 20th October 1969. I don't think we have ever seen this badge, which looks like the centre of a regular diamond star: It appears that ladies wore Family orders and Stars, which-even in 1969-was quite exceptionnal. I hope someone knows more about it...

I hope to be able to find a photo showing a clearer view of the star. It seems very unusual. I hadn't noticed that in my article, but it seems this is a rare appearance of the piece! I remember reading an article about a similar (or same) badge recently, but I can't recall where! It's a pity these types of occasions are unlikely to happen again!
