Breaking news - Bourbon Parma 'Sale of the century'
Posted by Thomas on November 15, 2018, 9:25 pm
The bidders at last night Bourbon Parma auction came from 43 different countries, and 55% of them were bidding online.
Andres White Correns, senior director for jewelry declared: “We had said when we did the press conference for this sale that this was going to be the sale of this century — and I think that the results tonight prove that this is the case.” (AP)
A Russian buyer won Marie-Antoinette's memorial ring with woven hair for 447.000 swiss francs.
As reported by Le Figaro, Marie-Antoinette's Pearl pendant was acquired by a European man, bidding on the telephone, who wishes to remain anonymous. He outbid a middle-eastern buyer who was apparently on the floor.
Exciting news from France, The Musée de la Légion d'Honneur in Paris is said to have acquired Charles X's star of the Order of the Saint-Esprit, for 35172€

Many thanks Thomas. I wonder if we will eventually learn who the new owner of Marie Antoinette's pearl pendant is? If I remember correctly (and interpreted which bids were made from the room correctly) I think that the first of the bids which increased by 2 million came from the room. Obviously 2 very determined and wealthy bidders!
