What jewel interested you most in 2018? Posted by Beth on December 31, 2018, 6:07 pm I am hoping that, either in this thread or the one below about New Year, posters will talk about their favourite jewel for 2018 -- whether it is modern, historic, belonging to a collector, a jeweller, a royal or who ever. Happy New Year to all! I hope you all get to see brilliant fireworks like I do. They are an integral part of New Year in my part of the world.

Queen Maxima in the Stuart tiara at the State dinner and Princess Eugenie in the Greville emerald kokoshnik. Maxima because she brings it like no other royal jewel wearer and Beatrice for showing how timeless design can be modern and fresh when paired with the perfect hair and dress.

My favourite jewel of the year also has to be the Greville emerald kokoshnik. Dame Margaret does interest me. I loved seeing the Greville emerald tiara. My jewel wish for the coming year is to see the Greville emerald necklace around a Royal lady's neck.

I suspect that many are interested in Mrs Greville's jewels. Perhaps some time in January we could do a thread on what is known to have come from Mrs Greville and what we suspect might have belonged to her. I hope that all who live in the more westerly time zones (from mine) are enjoying a delightful, cheery New Year's Eve.

My favorite jewel(s) of 2018 : I would say : -Queen Maxima with the Stuart diamond tiara. -The Bourbon Parma jewels at auction (for the photos and details about them). -Rarely seen jewels wore during the wedding and festivities around Duchess Sophie of Wurttemberg (for example, Duchess Sophie wearing the Wurttemberg ruby and diamond parure and Princess Mathilde of Waldburg-Zeil with the family pearl drop and diamond tiara). It was wonderful to see these sets of jewels and to read Vincent Meylan's Instagram post https://www.instagram.com/p/BpOmpMSnQGs/ on the Cambridge pearl and diamond tiara now worn by the Princess of Waldburg-Zeil. To see the tiara in a modern photograph was almost as interesting as the history.
