Japanese New Year’s Reception
Posted by The Royal Watcher on January 1, 2019, 3:23 pm
Idk, they all the tiaras I mean look the same. The Japanese imperial house does not have the variety like the Europeans or even the middle and Asian royal houses and it makes them look really bland in taste. I however love the empress's broaches and I saw her in a necklace some time back which I believe had pearls and diamonds and this was outstanding.
Regards,
Dave.

Happy New Year everyone!
Even before parts of the world have reached the New Year, we have the first Tiaras of 2019 in Japan, at the annual Ceremony of New Year’s Celebration at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, HERE ! The Empress didn't wear a Tiara, but Crown Princess Masako (attending the Public Audience for the first time in over 15 years) wore her Pearl Sunburst Tiara , while all the other ladies of the Imperial Family wore their Wedding or 20th Birthday Tiaras !
There is also the Danish New Year's Reception to look forward to later today!
I agree they all look the same not only the tiara's but the dresses, the hair the lot, however it's wonderful to see such a line up.
The Japanese royal's have never seemed to go for coloured gems. Maybe someone else knows why but i suspect pearls have always been favoured due to the fact they are local. I also wonder if Japan's isolation for centuries was a factor but then again that wouldn't explain the diamonds.
I think perhaps in the end it's the purity and uniform of the look. If you notice none of the ladies have outshone another one.

I think the colour white is important in Imperial Japanese culture. It can’t be a coincidence that in over a hundred years of tiara wearing they have never worn a single coloured gem tiara. There are too many Imperial pearl and diamond jewels to be merely personal choice. The Japanese Imperials are not famous for their freedom.
