A wish for 2019 - QEII -opens the vaults! Posted by Mike on January 2, 2019, 7:52 pm Hi all, Firstly happy new year! I would love it if QEII gave everyone full access to the vaults for an imaginary forthcoming state banquet. whilst I cannot see this happening imagine...... Camilla having a go at wearing the Brazilian Aquamarines. Anne in one of the lost Sapphire tiaras together with the Abu Dhabi suite. Sophie in the King George VI necklace and Belgian necklace tiara. Catherine - Greville Emerald tiara and grevillea necklace Meghan - Burmese Ruby tiara with Crown Rubies. Beatrice - the second missing Saphhire and Diamond tiara and some of the queen Mum's missing sapphire and diamond wedding present pieces Lots of colour. Wondering what would everyone else like to see worn? I would gladly do the dusting and cleaning to see the above. Mike post thought - I would also love to see Camilla in the Kent Amethysts!

What an interesting set of ideas you have. For many reasons I would love to see the Queen Mother's sapphire sautoir worn and to know if our guess, that it was made from HM's wedding gift necklace from Queen Mary, is correct.

I don't recall it, and have often wondered if it too may have been dismantled and been used in the sapphire sautoir. The wedding gift necklace had a few good sized sapphires but the sautoir seems to have had more. Sapphire sautoir" A very belated thank you to you all for your replies. Some great ideas and things I had forgotten about. The mention of the Queen Mothers Sautoir leads me to think that there was also a Pearl one as well as the Sapphire and Diamond one. I suspect that we have had 2 queens quite sentimental and not really into jewels in a row. I fear for us that Camilla will continue this trend as she seems to keep wearing the same pieces despite having a very extensive collection. Oh what is in the vaults at BP...one can only imagine. I suspect that there is a lot of Greville inheritance pieces still unsighted plus a lot of historical pieces never seen or not seen publicly or at least like the Greville Emerald necklace not seen for years.
