Queen of Malaysia Tiara
Posted by The Royal Watcher on January 24, 2019, 5:09 pm
It has just been announced that the Sultan of Pahang has just been appointed the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and after more than 2 years, Malaysia has a Queen Consort again! For the installation ceremony on the 31st, Queen Azizah Aminah will most likely be wearing the Gendik Diraja Tiara and Necklace, which are passed down from Queen to Queen at the end of the 5-year term!
The Tiara was made by Garrard in 1984 and is a reworking of an existing piece while the necklace was made in 1989!
Oh!! Thank you, The Royal Watcher for the wonderfully clear photos of the tiara and necklace of the Malaysian Queens. I have never seen such clear images before. In those I have seen of the various queens wearing the tiara and necklace, the details have been fuzzy.
The Malaysian system of monarchy is unique, but how wonderful that, either the various royal families or is it the Malaysian state has provided jewels for the incumbent monarch and his spouse?
Does anyone know how these jewels were paid for/organised? I suspect it may be the State of Malaysia, but it maybe a joint effort by all of the sultanates in the federation,
I hope to see some clear photos of the inauguration of the new King and Queen next week.
