Empress Zita's Coronation Pearls
Posted by The Royal Watcher on March 2, 2019, 6:31 pm
Very little is known about the fate of the Austro-Hungarian Crown Jewels and the private jewels of the Habsburgs, so thats why I was intrigued about this screenshot of text I found in my folders, about Empress Zita retaining her Coronation Pearls until the end of her life!
I'm unconvinced that they are the same pearls worn by the Empress throughout her life and even at her lying-in, but if her Coronation Pearls did survive, where are now??
The shorter of the two strands of pearls the Empress wore at her coronation appears to have larger pearls, but it is, I think, possible that the longer strand might have provided the pearls for the shorter necklace in The Royal Watcher's photo as well as the second, longer strand shown in the photo of the Empress taken after her death.
If the Empress did not give them to a religious group or direct they should be sold for a charity, I suspect that they are preserved as a relic, as there are moves to have her declared a saint.
