Anna Pavlova

This lady who was a renowned dancer and did so much for the arts may have been forgotten but in reading through some historic materials this morning I found out about her and her contributions to the arts all over the world. What I also noticed that she also dawned some impressive jewels. Please see below.

This could prove to be a very interesting topic. I hope that someone has some information.
Anna Pavlova has definitely not been forgotten in Australia and New Zealand, as our ever popular pavlova is named after her, as the press keeps reminding us during debates over who invented the dessert.

Another stunning photograph. Of course the jewels could have been borrowed or indeed just photographers props.
A great photo, thank you JohnAF. No need to apologise for how photos turn out.
Anna Pavlova lived during an era when admirers from -- Kings and Queens to wealthy patrons of the arts -- gave jewelled gifts to celebrated artistes, so I suspect that most of the jewels she was photographed wearing were real and possibly her own jewels. (Perhaps not all of course)
I found one 1909 news report about her jewels, which I think is revealing.
After leaving a theatre in Russia she left her jewels in a cab. And they were returned! Perhaps it was just that the cab driver was honest, but it may also be because of the Russian attitude to the ballet and the stars of ballet. Whatever the scenario, the report suggests that, like divas such as Nellie Melba, Anna Pavlova wore her own jewels during performances.
I think that the rivieres worn by Pavlova in the photo posted by Dave and the one posted by JohnAF are the same jewel. Perhaps also in the photo below.
And the lower necklace above appears to be the same as in the photo below.
