Jewels in Christie's auction Posted by Beth on April 17, 2019, 9:09 am The forthcoming auction by Christie's in Geneva has some stunning jewels, some with very interesting provenances. Christie's https://www.christies.com/zmags/?ZmagsPublishID=62bb9aed We have already heard about the aquamarine tiara. Lot 244 is the Aosta emerald necklace which is again being sold. The Jonker V diamond lot 270 caught my attention as did the pearls in lot 271. To me the most interesting of all is the Ana Maria pearl, lot 264. It has a very interesting history. There is one very important jewel in that catalogue that nobody recognised ! Even the Christie’s experts only understood the importance of it after the catalogue was ready. It seems they are preparing a second special catalogue for that one piece ! Does anybody recognise it ? One clue : we have all seen images of it before.

I especially love the coloured stones and the Fringe tiara worn by KW the IV' wife. The Jonker v is also outstanding being in the category of the Cullinan and Koo I Nor diamonds.
