Waldegrave Tiara
Posted by The Royal Watcher on May 1, 2019, 4:00 pm
To mark Lady Susan Hussey's 80th Birthday today, I released an article on her family (the Earls of Waldegrave) Tiara, HERE, which I have been researching for over two years! I found the Tiara was worn by the 9th Countess at the Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in 1902, and has been worn by Lady Susan for the past few decades! I would love to know what other information you all have about this piece!

Very interesting. Thank you The Royal Watcher! I had always wondered about the provenance of the tiara worn by Lady Susan Hussey. Thankfully, you have solved the mystery.
The Waldegrave family have been very discreet vis a vis the media for a long time. I have never seen photos of the Countesses in the papers showing them at evening functions (so wearing grand jewels), despite the fact that there are numerous reports of them at various social occasions. Having said that, I confess that I have never done a systematic search on the UK papers for photos.
Would anyone like to hazard a guess at the date the tiara and matching necklace might have been created?
