Queen Suthida. Jewels. New and old? Posted by Beth on May 4, 2019, 4:08 pm So far the photos are not 100% clear but I suspect that Queen Suthida wore the same or a similar chain to one used by Queen Sirikit for a ceremony inside the palace today. I think I have only seen Queen Sirikit wear this particular chain on 2 occasions, which I think may symbolise being queen. Queen Sirikit at the coronation in 1950 These ruby earrings appear to be new.

Dear Beth the chain worn by the new queen of Thailand is the collar of the Order of the Royal House of Chakri. Queen Sofia wore a similar chain during the late king's diamond jubilee. During a state visit: Also on the current king Here's a better picture from Queen Sirikit's coronation showing this collar/chain. Queen Suthida did wear a fabulous ruby belt that was also worn by her mother-in-law Queen Sirikit!!!

I had no idea that the chain belonged to an Order. Thank heavens for the pooling of information. I learn new things constantly. It is interesting to see that Princess Soamswali also wore the ruby belt clasp. Obviously this eye catching ornament is not reserved only for a queen. The Thai royal ladies must have an incredible number of different ruby jewels. I wonder what Queen Suthida will wear today?

Ruby Belt" Yesterday Queen Suthida wore an attractive Dragonfly brooch to secure her sash at the back of her dress. (I hope I have identified the insect correctly!!) And secured her hair with a diamond ornament

They remind me of the ones worn by the DoCorn and the late QEQM.
