Mathilde's earrings: new or not? Posted by Isabelle D on May 21, 2019, 5:29 pm At yesterday's performances of the Queen Elisabeth Competition for Violin, queen Mathilde wore these diamond & aquamarine earrings - that she only wore for the first tima a couple of weeks ago, on a state visit to South Korea. Rumours spread that these are in fact the late queen Fabiola's aquamarine earrings, in a competely new setting. So what do you think? Because of the style of Mathilde's earrings I'd say they were made/reset by Brussels jeweller Wolfers.

I think the Aquamarine Pendants come from the Necklace of Queen Fabiola's Necklace rather than the earrings! I wonder if the necklace can be worn without the pendants, or if the necklace settings of the Spanish Wedding Gift Tiara can be worn without the elements! Queen Mathilde is in dire need of a diamond necklace, and I think these would look great!

It would be such a silly idea to dismantle a beautiful necklace just to make earrings, when those earrings already exist... The longer I keep looking at pictures the more I'm convinced these were Fabiola's earrings, but in a new setting. It is true of course that Mathilde could do with more jewellery. Small pieces keep being added, like earrings and brooches, but not much more. When it comes to diamond necklaces, she has these: Her laurel tiara worn as a necklace Her Wolfers tiara worn as a necklace A convertible bracelet/necklace
