Thynne family tiara Posted by Beth on May 24, 2019, 6:34 am Does any one know anything about the Thynne family tiara? If the lack of photos in the newspapers is any indication, the tiara remained in the vaults for many years. Yet, it surfaced a few years ago for the wedding of Viscount Weymouth, heir to the current Marquis of Bath, head of the Thynne family. Initially, I assumed that a necklace had been used to enlarge the tiara but then I discovered these photos, 1938 which makes me wonder if the lower segment is not a permanent part of the tiara. But I suspect that the lower section was not part of the original design. Any ideas about which gemstone is used in the lower elements?

I've seen the Viscountess wear the Tiara a couple of times on Instagram and always wondered about previous research! I agree with you about the lower element, which looks like a chain-link necklace

Now that I have the benefit of your eagle eye, I can see that the lower element is composed of diamond chain links. Thanks for the other photos. The only other head jewels I have seen are the previous Marchioness (in 1979) Edit: Thanks to 992234117 I now know that the photo below is not of the Marquess and Marchioness of Bath but of the Marquess and Marchioness of Bristol. Apologies for confusing people. and Lady Silvy Thynne wearing what looks like an emerald necklace mounted on a tiara frame. Hopefully the current Viscountess Weymouth will wear more of the family jewels in the future.

I also spotted the current Marchioness wearing what looks like the Floral Tiara worn above, at the State Opening of Parliament in 1994!

Not being familiar with faces I blindly accepted what Getty said. Lord Bristol is often seen in orders of dubious background. He by the way is the one who went to prison, not his son, the drug addict.
