QEII. Turquoise brooch
Posted by Beth on May 24, 2019, 8:48 am
Queen Elizabeth II has again worn her turquoise brooch to a visit to British Airways at Heathrow.
This video is well worth watching for some excellent views of the brooch.
Thanks Beth! I've often wondered if this brooch is not part of a parure set seeing that I've never seen the Queen in a turquoise necklace or earrings for that matter. I do know the late QEQM had a turquoise tiara which was I believe given to PM and CDoC has a beautiful turquoise necklace she has worn a couple times. I also wonder if that necklace is not from the late QEQM.
Regards,
Dave.

This particular brooch was never part of a parure. It was given to Queen Mary as a wedding present by her in laws, Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. It wasn't on anyone's radar until the Queen first wore it some years ago.
Brooch
No one knew its provenance until I found the sketch below.
The proof that it was given to Queen Mary by the then Prince and Princess of Wales.
QEII has a turquoise demi parure -- we can do a separate thread on that. I'm sure you will recognise it when you see it.
