Marie Louise Tiara

I’m just reading The Quest for Queen Mary edited by Hugo Vickers and it says this.
of the inheritance from P ML “‘Oh the tiara!’ The Duchess smiled ‘it’s left to me for my life and then to Richards wife. But I can’t wear it, it’s too big.’ ‘More like a mitre than a tiara, I remember’, said Princess Alice [Countess of Athlone] ‘Oh, much too heavy’. ‘But couldn’t you have it rearranged ma’am?’ ‘Well you know I’ve already got two tiaras - one Queen Mary gave me and one he did when we married, sufficient unto the day, don’t you know. And then having jewels arranged is so expensive’.

That quote reminded me of how hilarious the Gloucester section is. Delicious! It should be essential reading for everyone!
On a more serious note. It gives us insights into how Princess Marie Louise left things. Somehow I cannot imagine the tiara on Princess Alice. It would have swamped her petite features.
The quote also makes me wonder about the number of tiaras. Had Princess Alice's memory failed her? Did all the late night drinking addle Pope Hennessy's brain? Didn't Princess Alice think of all the head jewels she had as tiaras? For example could she have considered the Iveagh tiara as a comb? The one which can be worn as a necklace simply as a necklace etc? But what of the others?
There was also a part where QM tried to persuade the Gs to ask Pss Helena Victoria and Marie Louise to be godmother to Pr William, they said one was enough but asked the other (ML) to be godmother to Pr Richard. The Duke then said that QM hoped that they would be heirs to them both, which did sort of happen.
