POW on D-Day Posted by Bryce on June 8, 2019, 5:22 am Can board members please help me out here. I have been trying to determine the neck-badge that HRH is wearing today. He usually wear his Order of Merit ribband but has changed it up today. Is this a French award or a Legion award?

As such it has three ranks (Knight, Officer, Commander). I believe that Princess Caroline of Monaco is also a recipient of the Commander's cross. A bit of trivia: at the time of the order's creation, in 1883, it was widely mocked by the press and society (because of its overly prosaic nature), and nicknamed 'le poireau', that is, 'the leek'!
