QEQM. Emerald ring Posted by Beth on June 10, 2019, 8:49 am I stumbled across this photo which I think some might enjoy. It shows the most detail I have seen of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother's emerald ring. I have long suspected that this ring is part of the jewels left to HM by Mrs Greville. As far as I am aware the ring was not seen until after WWII. HM is definitely wearing the Greville emerald earrings. Detail

You speak as if you have seen this large emerald ring or may have posted on it before. I recall seeing HM QE2 in a post we did with a sq. cut emerald ring at a state banquet with the French President but it looked smaller that what I see here on her mother. Emerald ring" I think that Franck has identified the emerald ring at some time, but I don't seem to have taken a note of which photo it was. Interestingly, QEQM does not seem to have worn many different rings. I can think of her large diamond, her sugar loaf shaped pearl ring and her engagement sapphire ring, plus this emerald. I don't think I have ever seen a ruby ring. Has anyone?

We do know that she was given an emerald ring. QEQM has more rings that the list given. She has worn a huge diamond marquis ring with the diamond given by the government of South Africa in 1947. She has worn several emerald rings however she has never worn a ruby ring in public. I have never seen a photo of the South Africian diamond set as a ring and worn by QEQM. I know that some have speculated that the central marquise diamond in the current version of the Greville diamond tiara might be the gemstone given to HM in 1947.
