Melba is holding a reception Posted by Beth on June 22, 2019, 5:13 pm We started the board with Nellie Melba's jewels, so this year she is holding a reception to celebrate and all are invited to display their favourite jewels and jewelled decorations, whether they are grand or modest. Even unfashionable items like hat pins are welcomed.

My favourite Posted by Beth on June 22, 2019, 5:24 pm, in reply to "Melba is holding a reception" These tiny ruby and diamond hat/veil pins by Cartier which belonged to Queen Alexandra and were among the jewels in Princess Margaret's estate. Why? Because they were unknown, they are tiny, yet beautiful. I keep wondering were they used to secure a court veil when Queen Alexandra wore rubies, or did she use them to anchor a drift of veil to a hat? The possibilities are endless.
