Emperor Hirohito and the Garter Posted by Beth on June 25, 2019, 3:51 pm According to media reports the first time Emperor Hirohito wore the Garter after WWII was for the banquet given on the first day of Princess Alexandra's visit in November 1961. The Times 16 November 1961 This was widely publicised in the UK media and no doubt in Japan as well.
