Posted by Beth on July 3, 2019, 8:15 pm
When Lady Mary Crewe-Milnes married the 9th Duke of Roxburghe in 1935 she received a suite of pearl and diamond jewels from her mother-in-law, the American heiress, Mary Goelet who married the 8th Duke of Roxburghe.
These gifts consisted of a suite of diamond and pearl jewels. There was a necklace, brooch and earrings with black and white pearls and 2 pearl bracelets.
These jewels, which were auctioned by Sotheby's on 12 May 2015, match the description of the wedding gifts.
I know what you mean Kat Max! Sometimes finding information is so, so frustrating! I have sent you an email.
For others who are interested, both cuttings come from UK press reports. What frustrates me about electronic searching is that one day I will find some thing and then on the next day the same report will not show up!!!!
