Queen Maud. Wedding gifts. Ruby aigrette & Rothschild ruby brooch Posted by Beth on August 25, 2019, 6:48 am Princess Astrid of Norway is often seen with a striking ruby aigrette and a large ruby rose shaped pendant/brooch. In June 2017 on the RJWMB I put forward my theory that the ruby aigrette was a wedding gift in 1896 to Queen Maud from some of her friends. The aigrette The ruby brooch from Miss Alice de Rothschild Ursula has some wonderful photos of Princess Astrid wearing both jewels -- the best I have ever seen. I think Princess Astrid started to wear the ruby aigrette and the ruby brooch/pendant shortly after Queen Maud's and CP Martha's jewels were divided between Ragnhild, Astrid and Harald/Sonja in 1968. It might be a different band in Knightship's picture (much earlier)

I have two images showing Queen Maud (as Princess Charles) wearing a similar type of head jewel, but it is clearly not the one worn by Princess Astrid. The sketches does not include the frame of the Vifte tiara, the ruby aigrette nor the Hirsch aigrette, but it looks like the arched diamond frame was made for the ruby aigrette when you compare the frame with the sketch. Astrid’s diamond wings don't fit the same way, but they could originally have been combs or brooches.
