Just take a look at the Jewels on Mary Goelet Innes-Kerr in the below picture. They are just monumental, the brooch is huge and the coloured stones as well which are at the top and bottom of same. The necklace adorned to her bodice and at her neck. Please lets have a dissecting of these outstanding jewels.

The first photo is of Mary Goelet, Duchess of Roxburghe, but the jewels which feature individually belonged to her daughter-in-law, Mary Crewe Milnes, Duchess of Roxburghe.
Most of the jewels in the individual photos came from Mary Crewe Milnes' mother's family. Mary Crewe Milnes' mother was Lady Mary (Peggy) Primrose, (Marchioness of Crewe), the daughter of Hannah Rothschild, Countess of Rosebery. The ruby necklace belonged to Hannah and probably most of the other jewels, although the diamond ring was the engagement ring from the Duke of Roxburghe. We looked at some of Mary Crewe Milnes, Duchess of Roxburghe's jewels some time ago, but not all these as they are well known. Most commentators have taken their information from the Sotheby's auction sites.
Thanks Beth for your insite, their is some confusion between the two Mary's I have found. Any thoughts on the coloured stones on her bodice?

I have never collected much on Mary Goelet. From what information I have, it is possible that they were emeralds, but I know very little about her or her jewels.
The first photo in the jewellery site is from a fancy dress ball in 1912.
Some of Mary Goelet's jewels came from the French Crown Jewels. Her father, Ogden Goelet, purchased an important amount of pieces formerly in the French collection (the pair of diamond brooches, the little pearl crown, one of the four pearl brooches, the pair of pearls bracelets and a copy of the sapphire diadem).

I am not sure how to interpret all that Ursula has said about the pearl necklace with the pear shaped drops. Ursula are you saying that the necklace did belong to Queen Isabelle of Spain? And that it was the necklace/tiara sold by Koller in 2017?
My reading of the information on the Koller site is that the necklace/tiara the firm auctioned was made by Catchpole and Williams circa 1890, but perhaps I am mistaken.
If Mary Wilson, Mrs Ogden Goelet, eventually owned Queen Isabelle's necklace with the pear pearl drops then it could not have been given as a wedding gift as the Ogden Goelets married in 1877 before the auction of the Queen's jewels. If Mrs Ogden Goelet did own Queen Isabelle's necklace I wonder when it was altered and when she gave it to her daughter?
How ironic is it that we are speaking on female members from this noble Scottish family when the 10th Duke of Roxburgh has died only this week. Thank you Beth for giving the links to Ursula's site which are extremely informative and I have learned a great deal from them. I love the double pearl brooch diamonds surrounding the round pearls and did you Beth notice the massive large round diamond ring the Duchess wears in the painting with the said brooch. I see that the Emeralds I asked about came directly from entailed Roxburgh collection. What a good read.

I am as puzzled as you are Beth . Another thing is not very clear to me, the reference to the Paiva necklace. It can’t be ! The Paiva was long dead when that photo was taken, so the necklace can’t have been sold to her. One century later it was sold at Christie’s by descendants of her husband. How could it have been around the neck of the duchess of Roxburgh ? And I would say that the roxburghe necklace is pearl and emerald and the Paiva necklace is diamond and emeralds. I may be wrong, but I am a bit lost here.,
The short necklace of emeralds with diamonds, which the duchess is also wearing, looks like that of La Païva, the Princess of Henkel-Donnersmarck, who was also an important jewel collector from Boucheron.
I wrote, it looks similar - I did not write it is the same!
To explain it, I have compared it, it is a comparison. Sometimes, such speculation results in a new result, sometimes not.
Probably it was not clear enough.

I compare it Beth, had noted the similarity.
There are wonderful large pearls, very rare and quality. The market was not full of that pearl necklaces, in same design.
So probably we solve the puzzle in the future, when one or two necklaces came to the light or archives are published details about alterations, sales of part of it.
