Queen Alexandra. Velvet choker worn by Princess Anne Posted by Beth on September 11, 2019, 2:39 pm In The Queen's Jewels (1987) page 35 Leslie Field referred to a "delicate Edwardian necklace" worn by Queen Alexandra in 1917 and then by Princess Anne. Field described it as "a black velvet choker on which a narrow diamond chain was caught up in two swags by three diamond circles." Princess Anne wore this choker on at least 3 occasions in 1971 (and perhaps at other times). Queen Alexandra wore similar chokers on a number of occasions. So far I have found photos of her wearing this particular choker in 1912 and 1917. 1912. Detail. 1917 Detail Has anyone seen more images of Queen Alexandra with this necklace? Or Princess Anne wearing it again?

There’s also a photo of Princess Victoria and Alexandra with the choker, but I can’t find it right now. (I think her sister Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna was in the photo as well). The photo from the Royal Collection is marvellous. In the photo of Queen Alexandra which Knightship posted yesterday, the Queen is wearing the same clothes and jewels as in the 1912 photo I posted yesterday, so I suspect that Knightship's photo is also from 1912.
