Jewels at 1949 Harewood wedding Posted by Beth on September 29, 2019, 3:04 pm Our fellow poster, The Royal Watcher, has an interesting item on the 1949 wedding of the Earl of Harewood. http://royalwatcherblog.com/2019/09/29/wedding-of-the-earl-of-harewood-1949/#more-68761 Reading it reminded me that I have some stills of QEQM. I think most of her jewels are easily identified, but I have always been perplexed by the brooch HM pinned to her handbag. Does anyone have any ideas about it?

That is a sapphire and diamond bracelet which Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother wore frequently. She had owned it since before WWII when she was photographed by Beaton. 1939 1939 1947 in South Africa 2. The all diamond item. I suspect it is the watch with the elaborate diamond bracelet band which QEQM commenced wearing during the latter part of WWII. In the photo from the Harewood wedding it is difficult to tell whether QEQM is wearing the watch or an equally elaborate bracelet which she often wore with the watch. The diamond bracelet The diamond bracelet and the elaborate diamond watch. The watch is closer to HM's elbow. I have previously argued that the elaborate diamond watch may have been part of the inheritance from Mrs Greville.
