The Orleans Sapphires
Posted by Sam (The Beau Monde) on November 6, 2019, 2:03 am
Hi guys,
I recently wrote an article on the Orleans Sapphires, a suite of Sapphires once owned by Queen Marie Amelie of the French -
I've just been re reading it and I realised the first set of Sapphires (The Montpensier Set) has only been pictured or painted on two ladies, Queen Marie Amelie and Marie-Thérèse of Württemberg.
Does anyone know of any other pictures or articles on this set, the one with the pearls?
Such a beautiful stone sapphires are, no matter how many times this topic is discussed, I always feel like it is new to me. I feel though that in the future that museums may have to themselves auction off a set of jewels just to stay current in terms of finances and that is because people's likes and dislikes are going to change.
Regards,
Dave.
