An interesting thread Franck. I can recall doing a thread myself some time ago with pictures on some of the jewels in the Spanish royal family featuring Queen Sophia and one of her daughters.
I still however think the BRF has the biggest and most mysterious of all jewel collections their is because just when one thinks we have seen it all where the BRF is concerned a card is pulled from the proverbial sleeve.
Just think about it, the DoCorn debuted not one but 2 overwhelming ruby and diamond necklaces, yet we can only suspect they were gifts from the Saudis. What if one of them came from a private gift from either the PoW or some personal fried. We are only now seeing the real legacy of the late QEQM etc.
Queen Sophia is the daughter of a former and late Queen that being Queen Frederica of Greece and formally of Hanover, so one must question how many other jewels outside of the tiara received from her mother she had in her trousseau.
And Queen Mercedes of Spain the mother in law of Queen Sophia seemed to have held onto much legacy and family pieces while living in exile, herself being a product of that famous jewel owning family the Orleans of France.
So I would agree that most if not all of the jewels seen on the Queen are privately owned as the Spanish monarchy was defunct for a while before it was allowed to return under General Franco.
Regards,
Dave.

Dear all,
I would like to have more information about the collection of jewels owned and worn by Queen Sophia of Spain.
Indeed she has worn at least 10 different diamond necklaces, 6 ruby and diamond necklaces...sapphires + emeralds + turquoise.
She has worn also many brooches before and during the reign of her husband.
I am also struck by the fact that the infant Christina and Elena wore many jewels in the past (several ruby necklaces for examples...)
Do you think these jewels are owned by Queen Sophia of Spain.
Last but not least Queen Letizia who is not found of jewels has worn many different earrings....
Consequently, I would like to know if there is a site which sums up the collection of jewels owned/worn the Spanish royal family (like the Queen Jewels vault for example).
Apart from my very beloved British royal family (despite the fact that many known jewels worn by her former queens have now been worn/discovered) I do think that the Spanish royal family has the most mysterious collection of jewels.
Contrary to the others European royal family (Netherlands, Danemark, Sweden....Luxembourg) the collection of jewels owned by the Spanish royal family seems mysterious, not very well known and also very very huge !
I would be very grateful if you could provide many few information about about this mysterious collection of jewels.
Very best regards,
Franck
